mosquitofish has a very wide distribution in North America. In some
parts, it is a non-native, while in other states, it is a native species.
Historically, Gambusia affinis occured in Texas, Lousiana, Georgia,
Arkansas, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia,
Mississippi, and Kansas. Now it is found in 45 U.S. states including
Hawaii and Alaska.
