The
only method of control currently used is the application of pesticides.
There are a number of natural enemies (predators, parasitoids,
and pathogens) that attack
this insect, but these usually do not significantly affect its numbers.
Rainy
weather helps to reduce populations of soybean aphid. Raindrops
may knock aphids off plants and high humidity increases the chance
for fungal diseases to infect the insects.
Research is underway
to develop soybean cultivars that are resistant to the soybean aphid.
