Pesticides should never be used for controlling populations of this
insect. Perhaps the
best management technique
is to prevent their entry into houses and other buildings
If multicolored Asian lady beetles still gain entry into living
spaces, they can be removed using a broom and dustpan, or vacuum
cleaner, and released outdoors. Using a vacuum cleaner has become
the most widely used method for removal. When using a broom and
dustpan, gently collect the beetles to avoid alarming them so as
to avoid potentially staining surfaces. An indoor black light trap
has recently been tested as has been found to capture nearly 100%
of beetles in a house. The beetles can then be safely released outdoors.
