Asian Tiger Mosquitoes are small and fragile with slender bodies,
a pair of narrow wings, and three pairs of long, slender legs.
This mosquito
has striking black and white checkered legs and a white "racing
stripe" that runs down the top of its thorax.
The abdomen has
incomplete white stripes that appear as lines of bold white dots.
Asian tiger mosquitoes
have an elongated proboscis. The female uses it to feed on blood,
while males use it to feed on plant nectar.
A robust adult female measures slightly less than 1/4" in total
length
